摘要:
Each surface of the real life or artificial object can be constructed from small parts called patches. To present real life objects in a computer, the object needs to be digitalized. The result of the digitalisation is a point cloud. To obtain the surface patch the point cloud needs to be divided into small parts with small number of surface points. The final patch is obtained when all the patch points are connected into triangular mesh. The surface points are usually obtained from a 3D object and therefore a 3D convex hull is used to connect them together.3D convex hull also provides some important information about the patch itself. This information is used to construct the final patch from the 3D convex hull.
